St Edmund's
Partnerships
St Edmund’s is deeply embedded in and committed to the wider Kent community and have developed partnerships with a number of organisations to provide both educational and extra-curricular opportunities for people of all ages, making a meaningful and positive contribution to our local community.
St Edmund’s is not only a successful and historic centre for education in the Canterbury area, but is also a major employer and contributor to the local economy with a strong sense of social responsibility.
We actively seek to develop effective links with other local schools, charities and social groups for our mutual benefit. For example, the school is a founder member of the pioneering East Kent Schools Together (EKST) partnership of state and independent schools. EKST seeks to share expertise and resources and provide opportunities for disadvantaged children.
St Edmund’s also has long-standing and productive links with local charities such as Pilgrims’ Hospice, Kent MS Therapy Centre and Catching Lives.
The school shares its facilities with many local schools, sports groups and voluntary organisations.
Our annual festival also provides performance and learning opportunities for children and adults from outside the school. Recently, these have included art and dance sessions and a gospel singing workshop.
Ultimately, fostering strong local relationships is a key strategic aim of the school, not least because it helps develop in our pupils the vital qualities of community awareness and social conscience.
