Benjamin Wassell

Teacher of Physics

My professional journey has led me to some very interesting and varied careers and places, from working for a model rocket company to Hornby hobbies, to eventually becoming a learning support assistant, higher level teaching assistant and then training to become a science teacher. Over the last 18 years working in the education sector I have enjoyed roles as varied as a staff governor, assistant head of house, PGCE mentor, Interviewer for CCCU PGCE student programme and in the leadership role of cover allocation lead, across primary and secondary settings.
St. Edmund’s School has always played a large role in my life, both my parents having taught music here in the past and both siblings having attended, as well as getting confirmed and married in the school chapel.
In my spare time I enjoy amongst other things composing music, when family life permits it! I also have a keen interest in all things weather-related and I am invited as a guest speaker on BBC radio Kent when they wish to discuss weather-related events.
It is a tremendous privilege to have the opportunity to share my passion for science with the dedicated and hard-working pupils at St Edmund’s School and I hope to inspire others to continue studying the sciences as they take the next steps in their academic journeys.
