St Edmund's
sixth form concert – wednesday 7th july 2021
It is always sad to say goodbye to such talented musicians and this year’s U6 are no exception. The final concert of the year under normal circumstances would see all year groups and all of the school ensembles performing together. Under the current arrangements however, we still managed to showcase the Sixth Form Strings, Chamber Choir, a selection of wonderful soloists and our very own group, South by Zero, consisting of Matthew, George, Fred and Stephen.
To begin the programme, the strings and oboes performed the first movements of Concerto for Four Violins from L’estro armonico by Vivaldi and the Concerto for Three Oboes, Violins and Continuo by Telemann.
The chamber choir, in two different formats, gave us precisely delivered renditions of Blackbird, Underneath the Stars and Get Around. The ensemble items were punctuated by small groups of solo items performed by Francis, Stephen, Oliver, Sam, Fred and James.
Finally, to finish the programme South by Zero performed three songs; Real Gone, I Don’t Need No Doctor and the group’s own arrangement of All That Yesterday. Well done to all Sixth Form performers. We shall miss you and the talent that you have displayed in your time here at St Edmund’s – go well U6!
