An ‘eggcellent’ learning opportunity in the Pre-Prep
Today the Crickets popped over to the Senior School Food and Nutrition room to continue work on their current project ‘Out of an Egg’. Various egg sizes were investigated, including an Emu egg. The extremely large, dark green egg was a sight to see but was too hard to crack with a spoon. Luckily, Mr Anderson was on hand with his electric drill to bore a 9mm hole!
Everyone was amazed to see the difference in the amount of egg white and yolk that came out which is apparently the equivalent to 12 chicken eggs in volume. To finish the lesson, Mr Barnes whipped up a batter using traditional chicken eggs and served up delicious pancakes for brunch.
