St Edmund's
St Edmund’s School Big Band, Directed by Ian Swatman, were in full swing with their pre-Christmas performance on Sunday afternoon. In the first half, classic tunes such as New York State of Mind and A Few Good Men were included in a punchy programme of pieces, together with two superb vocal numbers performed by Isobel Kimber in year 9, marking her debut performance with the Big Band. Jonty Harris-Harding and William Inscoe also played outstanding solos in some of the numbers. Former pupil, Cameron Molland, even made an appearance and augmented the band but also added a touch of colour with his eye-catching Christmas jumper and trademark sunglasses!
In the second half, Hullabaloo, a professional quartet on sax, bass, guitar and drums provided a steady stream of hits and standards ranging from Rock and Roll to the Beatles. They were joined by the St Edmund’s Big Band for the final number, culminating in a huge sound, all performers clearly having a great time playing together. Well done to you all for giving us two hours of brilliant entertainment on a Sunday afternoon.
