Pupils celebrate outstanding GCSE results
St Edmund’s School Canterbury achieved an outstanding set of GCSE results this year reflecting our ongoing commitment to academic excellence. The 9-4 (A*-C) pass rate is the highest in the school’s history at 92% with eleven academic departments scoring 100% 9-4 pass rate and the Drama Department achieved 76% A*-A grades.
Head, Edward O’Connor said: “We are very proud of these excellent results. To achieve the highest GCSE pass rate in the school’s history is an exceptional achievement, particularly given the more demanding nature of the reformed GCSE syllabi. Our pupils and staff have worked extremely hard to prepare for these examinations and fully deserve this success. We now look forward to helping these pupils through Sixth Form and supporting the next phase of their academic careers.”
Isobel Mount who gained 5 GCSEs at grade 9, 4 grade 8 and 1 grade 6 said “It hasn’t sunk in yet. I’m feeling very pleased” and Frankie Shepley with 3 grade 9’s, 1A* and 5 grade 8’s said “I’m really pleased with what I got. I put in a lot of effort and it paid off, I’m really excited to be joining the Sixth Form”.
