Senior School Sport w/c 9th September

This week heralded the return of competitive sport. The girl’s 1st Xl hockey team took part in the Plumtree Tournament at Sevenoaks School on Tuesday, playing some of the best teams in the county.  We started with a narrow 0-2 defeat to The King’s School but produced much positive play.  Our positioning and passing improved further against Sevenoaks School: a close and exciting match against their U16 team finished 0-0. Lingfield College were next and we produced plenty of good attacking play. Unfortunately, the 0-1 score line did not reflect the balance of play.  In the final match, the girls won a superb victory against a strong Sevenoaks 2nd team. Congratulations to all for their determination and progressive play. Particular mention must go to Isabel and Catherine Wanstall who were excellent in goal and defence respectively.

The 2nd Xl hockey team played Dover College this week too, fighting hard in their first fixture of the season. The girls were delighted to come away with a 0-0 draw, with Ruth Metcalf (U5) chosen as Player of the Match.

Our Badminton team headed to King’s, Rochester on Thursday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed playing a friendly match against some strong opposition. Terence Yue and Geri Ng were agile and skilful as first pair, with Linh Pham and Roy Yuen executing some fantastic shots as pair two. There were many tight scorelines. Alex Falter, Olivia Harris Harding and Hasina Thapa Magar worked very hard in their debut Badminton fixture, playing with great energy and focus. Well done to all to our team on an afternoon of committed, high quality play.
